Well today was the second day of our 6 months of study and need to complete the second assignment for our real estate course only 8 to go. Been a bit tough getting the brain working again but it is getting better. On saturday Mandy had a casino party for her birthday it was so much fun. Willie was the croupier and we played black jack and roulette. will upload photos soon. It has been so exciting getting all the ATCs for our Zodiac swop, some really lovely work.

Our son Jason just proposed to his partner Vicki, they are hoping to get married in November when my Mother who is comming from South Africa will be here. As a family we are thrilled.

Today would have been our baby's birthday Clinton he died at 7weeks old 35years ago. He is always with me.
We had the busiest weekend I wrote up 3 deals and William 2. So this morning after presenting all the offers we have 3 deals in place and 2 work ins with other agents. yay one more to go and then we will have a few days away.
I have managed to work on my off the page entry for the winter warmers competition over at SBS. I am really excited about Senz and have been making pins have lots to do before friday. I have booked for two classes.

3rd week Winter Warmers

Here is the 3rd weeks challenge it is a ATC dipicting the 4 seasons. I have hand made the lillies and leaves. Embossed the background. Stitched the seasons together adding buds for spring, flowers for summer, leaves for autumn and my rain-man umbrella, jacket and boots for winter. Added dimentional magic to umbrella and boots to make them look wet.

Here are my entries so far to the winter warmers competition run by Carol and Sonya over at Scrapbook Studio I missed the second challenge when I was painting my scrapbook room so probably have no chance of winning ha ha as they are giving points for 1st 2nd and 3rd. (unless I managed a couple of firsts ha ha) don't think that is possible as so many talented ladies have entered. Here is my first week which was 3 or more photos. The colours I chose don't photograph too well but was for my Grand-daughters room I mounted it on a canvas.

Vicki, Shriley and I went to a crop night at Arty Farty last night. They made us feel so welcome, I so enjoyed their company. Did lots of scrapbooking too. I have been working on my winter warmer layout for the Scrapbook Studio. It is grungy, Getting dirty is really outside my comfort zone, but I have suprised myself and enjoyed making it. I was sorry to have to go off to my open home and leave my layout in the middle. The photo goes so well with the layout too.At the moment I am waiting for it all to dry. Nearly completed my room finished the blinds on friday. I have been making a ribbon shelf so have some more painting to do and then I will take some photos and you can see my happy room. Thinking of making pins for Seinz will see how my week goes. have a few ideas in my head so may get time to do them. Have a wonderful evening I will put up some of the things I have been working on shortly.

Been hard work painting over dark blue. I chose yellow which has come out brighter than I anticipated will upload photos as soon as I have some order again. Had to paint around the furniture too which took longer. Anyway it is nearly finished. Jason is off to run a 42km race in Wellington tomorrow the flights were delayed due to the fog. I made this shadow box inspired by the scrapbook studio. It has metal which I put through the cuttlebug around the frame. The paper in the background is gorgeous and velvety. Then I added bits and pieces it also has black butterflies across the top but I cut them off in the photo. Put the side butterflies on the metal too and put dimensional magic ontop. I am really please with the end result.

Really wanted to do the lady and she sort of landed up on a canvas I love yellow, so it was easy to decide on a background colour. I have been busy lately and trying to finish off a mask for my Grand-daughters bedroom which she has all painted and waiting for it. I have also been busy making a shadow box using metal which I put through the cuttlebug and have puts lots of butterflies on. Will take a photo tomorrow. I went to visit my Daughter and Grandchildren today they make me feel so special with shouts of yay Grandmas here and big hugs. I also went to get the grey covered up at the hair dresser today. Looks so much better now I don't have to wear my sunnies ontop of my head (even outside) ha ha. I went to the crop night at Scrapbook Studio with my future daughter-in-law we had a great night I managed to finish my zodiac ATC swop cards for SBS. Now my scrap room needs a BIG tidy up. Thinking of painting my scraproom my daughter was painting her room and I love the colour Papamoa from Dulux they have some really lovely colours. MMmm now for time. Hope it is not too chilli for you.

Here is my take on the sketch challenge at Scrapbook Studio. I went along on friday to their demo day and made a flower with material and a button sewen in the middle. Which made me inspired to make my own take on a flower for my next layout. I have used my new papers which I bought too love these colours.Hope you enjoy!

Today my husband is doing a talk on real estate for our company which will be used internationally, he did one a year ago and it was such a big hit, Brain White has asked him to do another one. He was asked to go to Australia to do it there and he refused so they are filming it in the city to distribute on internet within our company, Ray White, and will be used at the conference in Aussie in April.

Just finished baking biscuits for my Grand-daughter's camp. I did the housework, 2 open homes which were rather busy which is good, visited my daughters and family, chatted to my son, cooked dinner and manage to finish this layout of my grandson on his father's shoulders. Love the teal and purple colours, but they don't photograph very well.(As I have found with my heading on here) They are the requirement for a scrapping competition on Scrapbook Studio. Now off to watch a dvd that has to be watched tonight. Feels good to accomplish so much in a day. Quite inspired to make some cards after visiting Sonya's blog. Nearly settled into my new scrapbooking area. Hope you enjoy my new layout.

We went to watch the rugby. Someone organised a bus of South Africans well mostly to go and watch the game together. It was rather fun considering I don't watch rugby. Went out of 2008 with a bang with a sale. Yay! Saw in the new year with the family at Sally & Stephen's and Mandy's. Bought my new computer at the boxing day sales ...what a bargin nearly half the price of a year ago. My computer was so slow with low memory so it is so much fun to have a speedy new model. Did a bit of sewing on disolvable paper (new to me) laid lost of cotton ontop and sewed over it - just love the way it has turned out. Also did a few pictures for our bedroom trying to keep the cream theme.

Praying for Tyrone

The family is very sad that Tyrone my brothers grandson is in a critical state.

He was born with a disease called Central Nuclear Myopathy, and because of that has had weak muscles all life. In 2006 he got bronchial pneumonia and his left lung collapsed. Because of his weak muscles he was put on a respirator and has been on it ever since.Last Friday (7 Nov 08) he was re-admitted to hospital with bronchial pneumonia again. This weekend has been very bad for him, and he is now in ICU on 100% ventilation. The doctors found that he's also retaining Carbon Dioxide.Please join us in praying for him and the family.

Off for coffee with a friend this morning good to have a break from a busy week. Waiting for my atc cards to arrive closed on the 15 September which was monday. It was all about birds ( I hope no one did owls )thought I would do something for a bit of fun. Next cards I do will not have scrapbooking in mind love to do something a bit more mixed media...mmmm thinking cap on. Love working with paints. With Aig shaky we thought we had lost our medical insurance which is a worry because Willie will not get any more insurance and he has a problems with his heart and has been having angioplasty almost every year. So we are relieved that they have been saved. Tiffany has been accepted into the school she wanted so that is great news. We off to a masquarade ball - have to make some masks. I bought some sunflowers ....well actually it is a pot with soil and seeds off to plant them hope they will flower before my birthday in two weeks. Isn't spring great!

The children and Grandchildren will be over after our open homes for Father's Day, looking forward to seeing the Grandchildren as they have been sick and I haven't seen them for awhile. We have such great lisings at the moment sure we will get a sale this weekend.

Just awonderin' do these cards reflect who we are?..... thinking of mine they do. I do mine early - like to get a job done. Have time to enjoy the process and not slapping it together the night before it is due. Neatness, creativity, originality, thinking what others would enjoy (it is a scrapbooking site we belong to.) My next ones on birds - looking at that one it has humour, colours reflecting winter as I enjoy it ....not black and depressed- I enjoy the happier colours.

Does what is happening in our lives reflect in our scrapbooking, do we follow trends - like our clothes and homes.

With all the emergency items ready and hot water in the flask....the storm passed us by besides the trees waving around madly and loads of leaves all over today ...we are thankfully without any damange and had electricity notice many others in Howick were without electricity and DH could watch the rugby without interuption. Really grateful reading of damage around the country. Started working on my ATC today for the swop - think it is going to be hearts as the theme cut out 10 pieces of card then logged onto scapbookingbydesign and the numbers going above may have to make more. Good to be scrapping again. Thought I may cut up my old magazines like Louise and make an inspriational file will help to get rid of the clutter and I won't feel so guilty buying more mags. ha ha Was given the ok to drive again and back to work on tuesday - thought after 6 weeks the pain in the foot would miraculously disapear which it hasn't oh well hope it eazers soon.

We went for drinks with workmates and then to dinner at Jervois steak house in Herne bay...we won $200 vouchers ...still wondered how we could eat so much food and William does not enjoy the fine dining experience....BUT wow it was fantastic....had King crab for starters and salmon for mains and DH had eye rib and then desserts I had pecan nut pie and DH had a tower thing looked good lots of chocolate. I think there was only an $11 dollar tip over at the end...will definitely go back.

School holidays

Sally fetched me yesterday and together with her children we went to lunch at Botany. They (not me) had photos with David Beckam lookalike at Whitcouls and were given pens. We met Doreen and her daughter Violet for lunch and the children even Ryan only 2+ went on the obsticle course. Botany certainly puts on loads of activities for the children. They went home with big smiles and ready to rest. Bought the art of Knitting yesterday..love the colours of the blanket in it. Each pack you get a pattern and ball of wool to complete it. The first week is a real bargin at $3.99 -knitting needles two balls of wool and a dvd (my grand-daughter will love) BUT takes 90 packs to compete the blanket the following packs cost $9.99 that will be an expensive blanket costing $900 mmm will have to rethink this. Have been watching the amazing race on vibe love the change between the couples as the race progress, the polite and kind ones always get further. I am busy making some Artist Trading Cards does anyone want to swop...will load mine later...good to be scrapping again.

Will always be a special day for us, it would have been our baby's birthday. He died at 7weeks old over 30 years ago. They said it was a cot death...to me that meant they just didn't know why!
They say it gets easier but losing a child is never easy and you never get over it.
Makes you grateful for your children that you do have and the grandchildren that followed.

Last night I was Mandy's 'plus one' at her Victim support meeting where they honoured the volunteers for their committment. Made me think in South Africa I would have just partnered her but here in New Zealand a partner could mean - in a relationship or business. It was a lovely evening and such a wonderful and obviously caring bunch of people. I was honoured to be there and be Mandy's plus one.
My home help has come to an end this week and hopefully next week I will be fighting the vacuum around the house again, still have another two weeks off work and then have to have xrays and see the fracture specialist.
I have had a wonderfully reflective few weeks...it has been as if my life has been on pause while everyone around me run around doing their work and errands. Makes me realise that I am very independant and battled especially in the first week to accept help. From meals being cooked to being grateful for someone arriving with a mag or the groceries. Besides knitting watching loads of tv, I have started to read a book....haven't had time for about a year. I will be absolutely rested when I am up and running around again. AND truly grateful for the small things in life.

Sally has phoned The Edge theatre and they are the best when we arrive to see Precilla Queen of the Desert they are going to escort us in the lifts so I can avoid the stairs.Yay the joy of living in New Zealand. So I am so excited that I can still go. Life much easier with the boot and oh to having a bath again ..yay! Knitting with Meek...from Scrapbooking by design site Meek is knitting a scarf to keep me company and I am knitting jerseys for the Grandchildren. I have chosen to knit striped jerseys with cars on. Friday the 13th

Went to the fracture specialist today and all looks good they took off the plaster of paris and I now have a moon boot. Much easier to get around and can take off to shower...yay! He says it will take 6 weeks to heal but should heal 100% so that is great news. May make Precilla Queen of the desert after all.
Sally,, Stephen and the children came and made supper (yummy) I heard all their news it was great.

Broke my leg

Fell down a flight of stairs and broke my leg and hurt my knee on the other leg. Fustrating for me to rely on others as I am really independant. Sally took me yesterday back to the A&E and I managed to use the crutches battled before with the sore knee. Tomorrow I am seeing the fracture specialist so I will find out how bad it is and how long the plaster will have to stay on. Too difficult to scrapbook at the moment as everything is upstairs and I have decided to stay downstairs the only internet is in the study. Going to get knitting.

Pink Album

Finished Sally's long awaited Pink album. Quite challenging to keep to pink especially with the old photos which are not the best quality.

Loved this paper used it before so had to use the left overs. Thought I would do a layout with my shoe addiction. This is the last week of In my skin on the Embellished site.

thought the tophat was the obvious choice....Loved doing these challenge. A change from the normal babies etc. Makes you think outside the square and each week I have done something different.

Done this for a sketch challenge on embellished. But also did it to match another layout I did awhile ago with photos from the same series. Tiffany is the sweetest little girl, or should I say young lady.
